Coming to CU: ramps, lamps, and racks
By Mikey Zhong
At first I thought they finally realized people tripped there a lot. Even better news though! Butler is getting a (real) ramp!
They’re also adding lamps to surround South Lawn. It’s a two-for-one Columbia construction special.

From tonight’s CCSC meeting: Bacchanal asks for more money
By Staff
The News desk’s Melanie Broder was at tonight’s CCSC meeting to take note of the proceedings:
- The good people behind Bacchanal are asking for more money. They already have a budget of $60,000-$70,000 for artists, but they want $20,000 more in order to net a bigger-name artist. They mentioned Snoop Dogg, Kings of Leon, and Phoenix as examples of the sort of artist an bigger budget could bring in. ”We just want to make it better,” Bacchanal president (and Spec cartoonist) Jody Zellman said. “We know people want better acts. That’s not possible without extra money.”
- As part of the “Green Your Publication” series of initiatives, CCSC sustainability liaison Elizabeth Kipp-Giusti, CC ’12, proposed adding a few new publications racks in Lerner Hall: one by the stairs (where the New York Times is currently distributed), one in the former Piano Lounge, and one near the Center for Student Advising. The council also discussed putting the racks—vertical ones that hang on the wall—in Hamilton, John Jay, and the Butler lounge. Fortunately for us at Spec, we have our own racks.
