Today’s game is the last of non-conference play for the Light Blue football team, and the Lions (0-3, 0-1 Ivy) are hoping to record their first win of the season against the Sacred Heart Pioneers (2-2). If you couldn’t (or didn’t want to) make the trek to Jersey for the Lions’ first Ivy game of the season, don’t fret. Spec put together a slide show of the game so you too can experience the agony of a 24-21 loss to the Tigers.
Today the Columbia Lions (0-2) have ventured into enemy territory to take on the Princeton Tigers (0-2) in New Jersey. This is the first week of Ivy play for both teams, and will inevitably the first winning week for one of the two, as both enter winless on the season. If you haven’t started your trip out to Jersey yet, it’s probably a little late to make the 6pm kickoff, but never fear. Today the Columbia Lions (0-1) will play in their home opener against the Albany Great Danes (0-2). After a 21-14 loss to Fordham last week, the Light Blue is looking to put up a win before opening Ivy play next weekend against Princeton. Columbia’s football home opener is this weekend at Baker Field against Albany at 12:30 p.m. You should go! Even if you’re not a fan of sports and can’t quite figure out the importance of a third-and-long or where the end zone is, there are still plenty of things you can do!
1) Pregame like a pro. Nothing better than getting your drink on at 11 a.m. Apparently, we have some generational catching up to do. Your friends will totally love the “ogmf footabll so mchu fnu guzys!” texts they get.
2) Count the number of other fans present in the stands. When you’re done one minute into the game… do it again. And again.
3) Raise a red flag and force everyone to immediately get off the field until you replace it with a green one. More »
