‘Getting live’ with the Lions’ Chris Crockett
Columbia College senior Chris Crockett’s four years as a Columbia Lion have been marked with various accomplishments—this past month alone, Crockett scored a career-high of six three-pointers in a game against Brown. With an average of about 15 points per game, this guard ended his final season in style.
But there’s far more to this Columbus, Ohio native than just swift feet and precision on the court. Crockett turned on the charm for Spectrum and answers some of our questions, leaving us laughing and begging for more.
Want to know who’s on his VIP list? Or what’s the funniest thing he’s ever heard during a game? Read after the jump for the latest installment of “five questions.”
1. What is your proudest basketball accomplishment/moment?
My senior year of High School I had just come back from knee surgery, and I helped take my high school team deeper in the playoffs than it had been in over 20 years.
2. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
At an early age my father told me, “The will to win means nothing, but the will to prepare to win means everything.” This mentality has stuck with me ever since.
3. If you were to have a dinner party, who would be on your VIP list? Why?
I’m pretty simple.
My Family: This includes my basketball teammates, because what is a dinner party without great people?
Barack Obama: Meeting him would really be an honor. Besides, I’ve seen thousands of people on television and he is by far the smoothest.
Dave Chapelle: What’s a dinner party without laughs? I’m positive he will provide more laughs than I could handle. He’s by far my favorite comedian of All-Time.
4. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever heard from the stands?
At Yale – A fan told Matt Johnson: “This isn’t GQ, it’s basketball” … I wasn’t sure why they would throw around compliments, but I’m sure Matt will take it!
At Princeton – A fan told Blaise Stabb that, “The WNBA wanted their hair back!” I got a nice laugh from that one.
5. Your most over-used word/phrase is…
Pretty much anything with “Getting Live” in it.
