The first two quarters of the 2013 football season did not go well for the Lions, as Columbia trails Fordham, 10-0, at halftime.
The Lions caught a bad break right from the get-go in Rose Hill. On the Lions’ very first defensive possession, just 2:18 into the game, senior defensive end and co-captain Seyi Adebayo went down with an apparent injury and limped off the field. Adebayo, who missed almost all of last season and was playing on a surgically repaired knee, got back in the game only to limp off the field once again.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Lions have had some struggles as well. Though junior quarterback Brett Nottingham made some impressive throws, he also threw an interception at Fordham’s three-yard line that prematurely ended what was a very promising Columbia drive.
Fordham’s two scores came on an eight-yard run by running back Carlton Koonce and a 39-yard field goal.
