It’s late. You’re up. Studying for finals? Lolz, me neither.
So some of us here at Spectator despise rankings, but lists are at least entertaining, even if they don’t mean anything in the real world (How could anyone give Barnard a 33?? COME ON!)
Well hate ‘em or love ‘em, StudentAdvisor.com has released a couple interesting rankings lately. Today for instance, Columbia made the fourth spot on the site’s list of top 100 “social media colleges,” up one from last year.
Though we’re supposedly not as good at social media as Harvard, Johns Hopkins, or Notre Dame, StudentAdvisor liked the fact that Columbia hosted a social media weekend with over 500 attendees. And, if you didn’t know, we have a social media directory that’s pretty legit. Ignore the fact that the directory is found on Columbia’s dusty, less-than-cutting edge website.
And a few weeks ago, the site released a list of this year’s top ten college commencement speakers. Obvs, Barack made the list, stealing the number 2 spot. But oddly, someone else took number one.
Jane Lynch, most famous for playing Sue Sylvester in Glee, will be speaking at Smith in a couple weeks. Not to bring up a sore subject, but is she really better than our insanely dreamy president who apparently in his earlier days “lounged around, drinking coffee and solving The New York Times crossword puzzle, bare-chested, wearing a blue and white sarong“?? I must confess that I’m not a die-hard Gleek, so maybe I don’t get it, but there are few people I would rather have speaking at my graduation than the POTUS.
Like Tina Fey.

Ehhhh, no. Not even her.
