WAKE-UP CALL

Today’s paper: roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of…April

Today is 4/20–and we all know what that means. That’s right–it’s strawberry season! Could there be a better way to satisfy those munchies that seem to have mysteriously inflicted about half the campus?

An unexpected bounty has pushed Westside Market to offer 4 cartons of the yummy red berry for just $5. Why Westside, how could we resist? While scouting for the choicest berries, as I’m sure many of us will be doing today, remember to keep the advice of the California Strawberry Commission in mind: “look for strawberries that are plump, bright red in color, and have fresh green caps.” Plump, bright red, green caps. Got it. [A&E]

But cheap, yummy snacks aren’t the only perk of this goooooorgeous mid-Spring day. After all, what could go better with those juicy strawberries than a free 3-d movie? Chewbacchanal weekend kicks off today with a 3-d screening of Coraline on the steps at 8 p.m. [A&E]

But while you’re enjoying your munchies-and-a-movie, remember–this isn’t a laid-back time for everyone. The Columbia College Student Council continues to debate the fallout of last week’s elections, in addition to the new academic calendar resolution handed down from the University Senate on Monday night. The baseball team at least has reason for genuine self-satisfaction. Reversing a shaky–and much criticised–start this season, the team has rallied to pull to the lead of the Gerhig Division with only a few games left in the regular season. If they can only keep up their pitching and hitting, the Ivy Title might just be within the Lions’ reach. [Sports]
