Professor Eric Foner defends history

Stephen Colbert quizzed Columbia professor Eric Foner last night on his American history textbook, Give Me Liberty!, automatically making him the most popular professor on campus. The discussion came in the context of the recently declared war on school by the Texas Board of Education. When backed into a corner by Colbert, Foner took the highly controversial position that rewriting history to agree with your personal political views is bad. Check out the full video after the jump.

I was in the front, in the section second from the right. The guy I was sitting with was the guy the warmup comedian made fun of for looking too excited.
