It’s been a weird week—now see it in gifs!
This week has been pretty big, but also pretty unusual. Midterms, Homecoming, the end of the government shutdown…I’m sure we all feel (or will feel, at least after
day drinking cheering at the game today) like this:
Still, the week started off with some pretty earth-shattering news. God himself paid a visit to Morningside Heights. Oh, and Diane Keaton was there too. And Cynthia Nixon (are you a Miranda or a Carrie?!).
In much weirder news: earlier this week, an eighteen-foot oarfish was found off the coast of California. Nature is awesome and kinda terrifying.
As I’m sure most of you have heard, on Wednesday a bill to end the government shutdown was finally passed. Everyone, quick, to the panda cams!
But guess what? The shutdown changed absolutely nothing and was a complete waste of time/money/effort/panda cam footage! Don’t believe me? Check out this amazing graphic from the Rachel Maddow Show. Says Obama to Ted Cruz:
Back on campus, a bunch of random rankings poured in. Columbia was once again ranked the #1 most rigorous school and the #5 best overall school by the Daily Beast (coupled with coming in at a somewhat concerning #32 in Future Earnings), and somehow we scored the #4 spot on the Inertia’s best surf schools list.
More importantly, just today it was announced that gay couples will be allowed to marry in New Jersey starting on Monday. It feels good to end this weird week on a high note!
