What does it take to land Obama as a commencement speaker? For the University of Michigan, just a bunch of dumb letters apparently. U Mich administrators had been pestering Obama for months about speaking at commencement, but it was the letters sent by dozens of students that sealed the deal. Obama, you old softie! So…when’s it gonna be our turn?
i dont get why he’s speaking at michigan. michigan sucks. although i guess it’s a swing state.

he doesn’t need to kiss up to NYC and Ivy students
sheer numbers game, too — U Mich will get him a lot of bang for the buck. It makes sense in terms of being selective with his appearences.
Plus, let’s be real — he didn’t really like Columbia that much.
