GS names Tom Harford dean of students
The School of General Studies has just announced that Tom Harford, currently an associate dean of non-degree programs at the School of Continuing Education, will be its next dean of students.
Harford replaces interim Dean of Students Leslie Limardo, who had been serving in the role since Scott Halvorson resigned in May. He’ll officially start Sept. 15, and as dean of students, he’ll oversee academic advising and “work closely on all aspects of undergraduate academic affairs, academic support services and students life,” according to a GS statement.
Harford earned a doctorate in medieval English literature from the CUNY Graduate Center, and before coming to Columbia, he was an administrator and professor of English and history at City College of New York.
