out of your league
Early admission stats
By Nina Lukina
Most deadlines for early decision passed a couple of weeks ago and Ivy League application numbers are out. Columbia’s pool of applicants stayed pretty steady, dropping 6%, while Yale saw a significant 18% decrease in its applications due to Harvard and Princeton reinstating their early decision programs.

oh noo, we gonna be number 5 =[
Columbia actually had more applications and a lower admit rate than Princeton, Yale, and Stanford last year. Only Harvard was harder to get into for the class of 2015. Columbia may actually move up on the new data.
Yale and Columbia’s early decision apps went down because they are direct competetors for the same students as Harvard and Princeton. The other four ivies stayed the same or went up because they are not competeing for the same students.
aww man, even more people had cornell as their early.
Cornell has a freshman class of four thousand.
4000? no. 3100.
In order to be able to judge, it would be necessary to see the data of the past 5 or 6 years. It’s natural to have fluctuations. It would be interesting to see if there’s a trend. This reminds me about the joke when someone’s asked how has this year been. Answer: “Oh! It’s an average year; worse than last, but it’s expected to be better than next.” :-)
