Concert roundup for this weekend

What Spring Fling will probably look like this weekend. anirudhkoul/flickr

We’ve never done one of these before, but we figured why not. It’s a boring weekend, you need to get pumped before finals, and people need to know about local events, right?

The list is in a very specific order—we sorted them from person you’re most likely to have heard of to person you’re least likely to have heard of to make it easier for you to choose your music plans for this weekend.

Coachella—There’s something for everyone: everything from alt-rock (The Black Keys) to House music (Swedish House Mafia) to rap (with our very own 2011 Bacchanal performer, Snoop Dogg!) to lesser known bands (Gotye, Childish Gambino). It’s located in California, but whatever, it’s worth it.

Spring Fling—So these bands are performing there, not sure if you’ve ever heard of this little group called Passion Pit or some guy named TiĆ«sto. It’s at Penn, so it’s a trek and you might feel like a traitor, but wear your Columbia shirt and we’ll forgive you.

Snow Patrol—If you don’t know “Chasing Cars,” I’d say you went to middle school under a rock. Or maybe you were a teenage hipster—too mainstream for you? Did you only listen to Panic! At the Disco?

Florence Henderson—The mom from The Brady Bunch; click on the link and you’ll recognize her immediately.

Ryan Cabrera—We’re still trying to figure out what exactly he’s famous for.

Big Gigantic– We hear there’s a concert somewhere around 114th and Broadway, but we’re not quite sure.

Medium Gigantic– Underground rapper, and Spectrum Daily Editor, Sara Garner is having a concert in her room tomorrow. We hear she’s got mad flow; it’s definitely going to be the place to be.

Check back later to hear why Spectrum Opinion Deputy Grace Bickers thinks you should go to Bacchanal instead!
