Classes that break the bank
Think your 9 a.m. Lit Hum class is bad? (I know I certainly do.) But, even with all its pitfalls, at least you can secure the books for Lit Hum for under $100. Imagine now, not only having to wake up early, but also having to pay two or three times the cost. Want to feel better about yourself and your class schedule? Read on to see these wallet destroyers.
Skiing is the clear winner here. To take the class (and lug oneself out before 8 a.m. on a weekend), a $400 fee is necessary. Yes, skiing is pretty awesome, but still expensive (and early!)
Sailing is the same, only with the slightly lighter $395 Physical Education fee and the less arduous burden of only waking by 10 a.m.
For those of you who are in SEAS, the required Introduction to Java class costs a whooping $254.90.

for providing us with this totally useless, boring information
you sir, are an ass.
with you, Anonymous!
bring back grace brickers!
why? so you jerks can harass her even more every time she makes a post?
with you, Wojtek Wolski!
Painting!
Just spent $260 on supplies. If only we could use acrylics…
RASHID KHALIDI’S HISTORY OF THE MODERN MIDDLE EAST. If you bought all the books from Book Culture it would be like $225 (you would also be dumb). Also, why isn’t it considered a conflict of interest to make a 200 person class buy your own book?
Because it’s just as easy for professors to get kickbacks from other textbook purchases/periodical subscriptions.
forget that the books are great.
Sailing is cheaper than skiing – no equipment necessary. Assuming you’re truly taking either as a beginner, you’re going to need four sessions of rental equipment for skiing. Easily another $100+
Structural Design has two engineering textbooks and two manuals – steel and concrete. Easily hitting $800 if you buy all four.
try architecture… $600+ on supplies before you even start buying materials to build with
and i bet you dont even get to live in the finished product
Intro to Java is not a SEAS requirement, it is a requirement of many majors within SEAS.
…ChemE ftw.
