This week in GSSC: New representatives, getting off campus
By Sarah Linden
General Studies Student Council correspondent Sarah Linden brings you the highlights from this week’s GSSC meeting.
What They’ve Done
- Step right up: GSSC members interviewed prospective council representatives this week. In their interviews, candidates were asked to discuss how they’d like to impact the school if appointed. Many candidates focused on how they would be able to cater to the academic and social desires of GS students and connect with the entire Columbia University student body. Appointed representatives will be notified tonight after GSSC members vote, and the student body will be notified tomorrow.
- Go away: The Events Committee has established a “Get Out of the Lounge” series of events for GS students. The first outing will be held this Saturday. Students will meet at the sundial at noon before heading to the Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy.
What to expect
- The Internet: The committee is continuing to revamp and update the GSSC website. A new section called “Meet a GS” on the website will help students become familiar with their classmates. “Meet a GS” will feature a different GS student each week. The student’s photo and basic information will be presented.
