Thursday pregame playlist: Isaac Assor
Another reason to love fall break: it’s already Thursday! For this week’s “Thursday Pregame Playlist,” we sat down with pianist/singer and musical director of Nonsequitur Isaac Assor, CC ’14. Playlist after the jump.
Move On Up – Curtis Mayfield. The song sampled in “Touch the Sky.” Curtis Mayfield is a boss.
Take Me to the River – Al Green. This has always been a favorite of mine. Great groove, awesome falsetto, can’t go wrong.
Blame It On Cain – Elvis Costello. Such a fantastic song—really gritty recording. It gets stuck in your head and refuses to get out.
Breakin’ the Chains of Love – Fitz & the Tantrums. These guys capture that old Motown feel so well. Awesome voice, oozes cool.
Try a Little Tenderness – Otis Redding. Not that Otis.
Beast of Burden – The Rolling Stones. One of the best feel good songs I know. Terrific song to which you can pound brews.
Love That Girl – Raphael Saadiq. Another track that sounds like it’s right out of the time capsule. One of my favorite party songs lately, hope it’ll be one of yours too!
Girl – Beck. Changing the mood a little bit…always thought this was such a cool recording.
Loving You – Paolo Nutini. If your night is successful, this is a great song to come back to.
Let’s Go Get Stoned – Ray Charles. No blurb necessary.
Isaac Assor is a badass. When he sings, I get chills
Beast of burden is a great song to dance in a flag to
