MIDNIGHT BFAST

Join the superwomen at Midnight Breakfast

From now until the wee hours of the morning, Barnard’s LeFrak Gym is the place where you can dance, eat free breakfast, have school spirit, AND not have to listen to misogynistic jokes!

The theme is superheroes, and the decor includes everything from Batman balloons to superman coloring pages. Come hang out here in lieu of Orgo Night, or come over for breakfast once you’re done in 212. The waffles / ice cream / bacon will be waiting.

The fact is that trashing Barnard stems in part from the fact that Barnard is a *women* socohl. I completely disagree with this statement. Barnard is an inferior institution not because it’s a women’s socohl. It is inferior because of its smaller endowment, higher admissions rate, SAT scores, national rank, the success of their alumni all of which is further confirmed by the fact that many students put Columbia University on their resume, not Barnard. This is not rooted in misogyny. I don’t hate women, nor do I endorse misogynistic comments. However, it cannot be denied that Barnard is a (generally speaking) inferior institution although I do concede that the nurturing environment is certainly more beneficial for some. At the end of the day, this assessment is not incompatible with being friends with Barnard students. Just because I don’t support one of the institutions in which you participate doesn’t mean that I can’t be friends with you. Plenty of my friends don’t like the fact that dislike my participation in various institutions, but this is not to say that they don’t recognize my value as a human being. Thus, an honest assessment of the socohl is not equivalent to an assessment of the students that study there.
